What We Believe

What began in 1999 as a one-man shop has grown to a team of developers serving clients across the country.  The reward is the joy we see when something that "took hours with the old site" now takes seconds. We remove road-blocks for people so they can pursue their passion. Through websites we've worked on, we've repaired relationships in family businesses, helped thousands of children learn new skills, and reduced energy consumption in commercial buildings!

What we believe for our clients

Profitable

We believe websites should have a goal.  We like to be successful, so from the outset we'll help you define what profitable success looks like for your site.  Profit isn't always measured in dollars and cents.  It might be measured in people informed, petitions signed, or conversations started.  Whatever the measurement, your website should be profitable.

Timely

A lot of meaning is wrapped up in this one single word.  The work we do should be done in a timely manner.  Websites change quickly and we move fast to keep ahead.  Beyond this, timely to us also means proactive.  We are constantly on the lookout for new techniques and developments that might benefit our clients.

Joyful

Life is too short to do something you don't enjoy.  Websites are a hoot!  We love the people we work with - many have become dear friends over the years.  The interesting part is when we work with joy, it seems to get reflected in the websites we produce.

What we believe for each other

Flexible

Some work has to be done at a specific time.  Nine-to-five, graveyard shift - the typical.  Website design grants us incredible flexibility.  We have the joy of working wherever there is internet, the privilege of working from our homes, and the major business benefit of not having to pay for office space.  We give the gift of autonomy to our team - they can work whenever and wherever they would like - and in turn we've been blessed to receive the gift of flexibility back when projects are pressing.  Likewise, our clients are incredibly flexible with us and so in the times when they can't be, we can give that back to them.  It is a nice way to work.

Sustainable

Our company has never needed to take on any debt or outside investment and we'd like to keep it that way.  We are family owned and have been cash-flow positive from day one.  It wasn't until we started talking with other business owners that we realized how blessed we were and decided to make it a priority to continue operating this way.  Sure, there have been times we could have grown faster by injecting capital, but when it comes to business planning we're marathoners, not sprinters.

Joyful

In case you hadn't noticed, we're pretty happy people.  We like to work with others who are just as joyful - both in our company and outside of it.

Why Covenant Web Design?

The Covenant part of Covenant Web Design is because we like to work on a basis of trust with people.  Contracts seem to assume the worst.  Since 1999 we've been blessed by never having been "burned" by a client.  The water-drop logo motif is based on how God made covenants with people from Noah (big waterdrop!), to Israel, to us today through Jesus.  Since God did it, we thought the covenant model was a pretty good way to do things for our business too!

Questions you might be asking (or should be ;)

Where are you located?

Our entire team works from home (or sometimes from coffee shops).  Our official "home headquarters" are in Des Moines, IA.

We aren't in Iowa, do you work with people out of state?

The majority of our clients are from out-of-state so you don't need to move here to work with us (though Iowa is rather nice).  We've found that email, phone, and Skype are usually the most effective ways to communicate with our busy clients.  So regardless of if you live across the street or across the country, we stay in constant touch.  Face-to-face is good too, so we make a point of visiting clients during the year.
