Chess4Life E-School
Who?:
What do over 3,000 school students in the Seattle metro area have in common? They all take chess classes through Chess4Life! One of the largest chess teaching organizations in the country, Chess4Life has developed extensive curriculum to bring chess and character development to hundreds of schools and thousands of students.
Why?:
Chess4Life already had curriculum in place: DVDs, Workbooks, Tests. But buying these products required a signi!cant upfront investment for parents. To avoid that, Elliott Neff, CEO of Chess4Life, envisioned an online learning system that would allow students to watch the videos and do the workbooks simultaneously and just pay for a monthly access fee.
Solution:
Using a combination of technologies, we built an online E-School learning system for Chess4Life. Through this system, students can watch the over 100 videos from the DVDs while working on puzzles and chess problems. Additionally, students can ask coaches questions (allowing Chess4Life to build a valuable Knowledge Base) and even submit games to the Chess4Life coaches for evaluation.
Wow!:
When a former Seattle-area student's family moved to Slovakia, his parents signed him up for Chess4Life E-School so he could keep up with his classmates. His mom told us that she had trouble getting him to eat lunch because he was so engrossed in the videos and puzzles.
