Churches | Why we believe in websites

People are searching for community. We believe the church is uniquely poised to be the connecting point to the ultimate community found in Christ.

Church Online Presence
Ellison Research published a study a couple years ago highlighting the lack of church presence online. Honestly, that was probably not a terrible thing in 2006 because the internet was mainly about getting information. Now, there is a monumental shift to people seeking community - especially online. The President of Ellison Research concluded the study by saying: "Many church sites...are limited to static information, such as a map to the church and a statement of beliefs. Increasingly, churches need to determine whether they want to have an online site or an online ministry. Right now, most only have the former, if they have anything at all."

We want to spread the Gospel and connect the body through church websites. Having a static website with basic information misses major potential that can be found through a church website. Why not broaden the idea and engage the congregational community? A few ideas we've talked about recently with churches...

  • Connect the church through a protected member directory with photos and map points so people realize who is in their neighborhood
  • Have a blog and let church members write it
  • Involve the congregation in picking what features the site should have
  • Fill out the forms and pay for camps and trips online through PayPal
  • Provide a place for prayer requests to be shared and instantly email them on to your prayer chain
