    One Spirit Medical Missions

Posted by Kaylee Godley on May 15, 2012

Let me introduce you to One Spirit Medical Missions (OSMM.) OSMM consists of several teams of medical professionals that travel to Haiti to provide medical care to people in rural communities. OSMM teams make several trips a year to several towns to run medical clinics and provide needed prescription medicines. It’s all about providing medical care for people that cannot afford it. But that’s not all! At OSMM, they help match interested Haitians with healthcare training. So, OSMM works to meet both current medical needs as well as prepare for the future of Haitian healthcare. This is especially important because there are not enough nurses and physicians currently in Haiti.

    Be, Be Objective Part 2

Posted by Kaylee Godley on October 27, 2011

Now that we have discussed some objectives that websites can have in Be, Be Objective Part 1, it is time to be objective about those objectives. Here, let’s start discussing the adjective form of the word objective and ask a few more questions: Does my website achieve its intended purpose effectively? Do I need to change or improve my website to better fit those purposes? By contrast, do I need to realign my original conception of what I thought the purpose of my website was? So take a step back with me and be objective about websites.

    Be, Be Objective! Part 1

Posted by Kaylee Godley on October 18, 2011

According to the American Heritage Dictionary and the Collins English Dictionary, courtesy of The Free Dictionary, there are several definitions for the word objective. Here are a couple summarized definitions:

    1.  Objective: (noun) goal, purpose, aim. Example: “His main objective during high school was to graduate as Valedictorian.”
    2. Objective: (adjective) independent of your emotions, preferences, preconceptions. Based on fact rather than feeling or opinion. Example: “The scientific quantitative observation is based on an objective value such as a numerical reading off of a scale. By contrast, the qualitative observation is based on conception or perceived appearance such the color of a solution.”

    Character-Filled Care by April

Posted by Kaylee Godley on September 29, 2011

Our most recent project, a fantastic new website for Care by April out of Ankeny, Iowa, is a website with a lot of character. One reason for that is Care by April is a non-medical home care company that serves Des Moines and its suburbs like Altoona, Ames, and Beaverdale. Care by April specializes in helping folks with all sorts of services including personal care, companionship, transportation, and respite/overnight care. The caregivers will also assist in basic home cleanup. Care by April serves people of all ages who need some help with their own special routine. I would say that the caregivers at Care by April are like super family members who are specially trained in tender loving care. They are pros.

An Elementary School Slice of History Arises

Posted by Kaylee Godley on September 8, 2011

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Julie who loved to draw. She loved art and painting as well. Little Julie enjoyed drawing animals like birds, horses, and fish. Sometimes Julie would even design her own creative animals. When Julie was in the 4th grade, her class was given an art project by Julie’s favorite teacher Mrs. Gatehouse. Mrs. Gatehouse told all of her students that they were to draw many animals and plants of different sizes on a large sheet of Manila paper. The class was going to make jungle collages.
