There's a hole in my tire, dear Liza.

Recently I have made a major scientific discovery that defies all the laws of physics as we have grown to know and love. Dear, friends I now can prove with no certainty at all that screws and nails have a strong attractive force towards vehicle tires. This force, abbreviated as S for strong (or S for screw) is an inherent characteristic of screws and nails simply because they have mass. Now the S force greatly over comes the recently discovered opposing W force, for weak (or W for wheel.) The W force can be mathematically considered a component of the still theoretical “anti-S force.” So this means that the S force of screws easily overcomes the weak repelling force W that tires have. Thus we end up with screws in our tires.

Now here is the true story behind the hogwash above. (Although, I thought my references to String Theory rather clever, thanks!) Yeah, I got a screw in my tire. Who knows where in McKinney, Texas I picked it up? But since I have lived here, I have grown to love all the trees that are in the medians of many roads in McKinney. It gives a whole new meaning to the word “Parkway.” And it certainly is a nice drive down a McKinney street with such nice Crape Myrtles. I noticed that my tire was a bit low so I aired it back up again. I knew I had a slow leak due to the screw in my tread that I found during this “why is my tire low?” investigation. Since I have not lived here for ages I wanted to see what my options were for getting my tire repaired in McKinney. I had seen a few tire shops just driving by but I wanted to see more options. As always I turned to my trusty website friend Google. After conducting a search for “McKinney Texas tire repair” I came up with the following websites.

    1) Discount Tire. This website was easy to read and navigate. At the Discount Tire website they also had a nice form interface for finding new tires for my vehicle at the local McKinney stores. I will have to keep Discount Tire located in McKinney in mind when I am shopping for new tires. Under their “Store Locater” tab on their website I did a search with my zip code and I found that there are 2 stores located in McKinney Texas.

    2) NTB. The National Tire and Battery website also had a quick form that I could fill out on their website to find new tires that were available for my car. I will definitely have to do comparison shopping online when I need new tires. The NTB website also had a quick reference zip code search right on the home page and I found that they had 2 locations in McKinney.

    3) Christian Brothers Automotive. The Christian Brothers Automotive is a company that is geared more towards whole car care. However, I found on their website a nice map showing their location in McKinney. Since I needed just a quick tire repair, I chose to keep this shop in mind when I need maintenance. And of course I will! Sometimes this Texas heat gets to poor AC compressors and radiators.

    4) Brakes Plus. Brakes Plus referenced tire rotation and balance on their website which is very important for tire ware and expanding the life. However they did not specifically mention that they repair tires. I bet that they do, but their website did not explicitly say that they did. This is another option that I will keep in mind for getting my car repaired here in McKinney, Texas. I know I’ll need work done. It’s part of owning a car and I love to keep my vehicle running well.

    5) Chuck’s Automotive Repair. I liked Chuck’s website the best of the ones that I found on this search. On their website I found that they are a local business in McKinney. Because they are not a national chain, I could see how they tailored their website design to be more of their own performance personality. On their website they bragged that they had just launched this site a few months ago so that was fun to read about. This shop in McKinney looks like more of a whole car care place and I will have to keep it in mind as well for brakes and belts I will need for the future.

    6) Firestone. Firestone had a really easy zip code location finder on their website. After I conducted this search, I found that Firestone was actually located in another suburb, not McKinney. That is interesting because this was one of the best hits for “McKinney Texas tire repair.” Because it ended up not being that close to McKinney, and all I needed was my tire patched I chose to overlook Firestone this time.

And this story has a happy ending. I do not have a screw in my tire anymore. I can drive the streets of McKinney, Texas without fear of getting a flat. What’s better? Maybe good tires carrying me towards ice cream?
